How my family sessions work
My portrait sessions are all about capturing those simple, joyful, everyday moments that show your connection as a family. Images filled with happiness and love. We can shoot in the home where your children are growing up, or at a location that means something to you as a family.
Outdoor shoots are fun and produce images full of energy. We can use your garden or your favourite local park. Run through the woods with your dog, and let the children climb trees. Whatever works for your family. You may be nervous about the children behaving on the day – but don’t be. A bit of chaos is part of the fun. I’m a parent too, I know that kids will be kids; don’t worry I have lots of tricks!
Capturing personality not perfection
We will spend an hour or so together as I create a mixture of beautiful portrait photos and joy-filled action shots. I have never worked in a studio – I think children need freedom to play and just be themselves in order to get the best and most natural shots. Being outdoors in the fresh air makes everyone relax, including any reticent adults. And I love nothing more than using the natural environment in my shoots.
You probably have hundreds of photos on your phone, and the cameras are excellent now, but it’s not the same. And more importantly YOU won’t be in those photos.

Make your baby shoot a family affair
While we focus mainly on the new baby, I include everyone in the shots. I have lots of tricks – especially with toddlers who have their own agenda. It’s always wonderful to include other family members too, especially grandparents.
Images of your newborn to treasure
The first two weeks is the ideal time for a shoot, while the baby is tiny and sleepy. But I photograph babies of any age, so you may wish to wait until they are a little older.
Newborn baby shoots are done in the comfort of your own home. Unlike with older children, it’s very difficult to photograph newborn babies using a phone. Unless you like the ‘baby mashed into the duvet’ look.
Those early days whizz past in the blink of an eye, so let me capture those precious moments as you welcome someone new into your family.

I understand that people prefer the digital files to use as they wish, so I do digital file packages only. I can recommend places for printing and creating wall art.
