Branding Images for a Therapist in Olney, Milton Keynes

This is a selection of branding images for a therapist in Olney, Milton Keynes. Pippa from Riverway Therapies contacted me for some images when she was putting her website together. Based in Olney, she specialises in Theraplay® and Counselling in Milton Keynes, Bedfordshire and Northants.

Pippa’s aim is to provide a safe and accessible environment for all, offering Theraplay®, walk and talk and nature therapy, online counselling, and face-to-face counselling in Milton Keynes, Bedfordshire and Northants. Pippa told me the following:

“I wanted my images to be really accurate in conveying who I am and what someone might experience if they come to see me for therapy. I have been described as, and view myself as, warm, empathetic, and non-judgemental in my therapeutic approach, and I wanted this to come through in the photos. Moreover, I needed to show that the services I offer are not limited to being indoors, as I also work outdoors and understand how beneficial being outside in nature can be for many reasons.”

Pre-shoot Planning and Mood Board

Because of the way that Pippa works with clients, we needed to plan her shoot carefully in order to show her methodology. Location planning was a key part of the process – both indoors and outdoors.

Here’s what Pippa had to say about the pre-shoot process:

I loved the pre-shoot consultation. This process really cemented for me that Siobhan would be the right photographer for me, as she spent time considering my clients and what I was looking for, as well as getting to know me as a person. She shared a lot of really useful and helpful ideas. This process was not limited to one in person meeting, as Siobhan shared some thoughts ahead of it, via email, and we also communicated between, where she shared some great images with me to highlight what she was thinking and what we could aim for. I found this extremely helpful, as she made it a personal and tailored approach. I felt, by the end, that she understood what I was hoping to achieve.

Working Outdoors in Nature – Integrated Counselling

Pippa is a qualified integrative counsellor, using different therapeutic models and specialising in Theraplay,® a child and family therapy involving structured play. She also does “walk and talk” therapy, going outside and connecting with nature. We wanted to ensure we showcased this side of her work in the personal branding session.

Working with a variety of clients

The approach Pippa takes is related directly to the individual needs of the client. Some sessions will be indoors and others outdoors. The indoor images also needed to show Pippa’s approach. Some of her specialisms involve adoption, fostering and special guardianship; Neurodivergence (specifically ADHD and Autism) as well as Ecotherapy/ Nature Therapy.

Speaking about the actual shoot Pippa said the following:

The actual day of the shoot was really fun, something I would not have thought I would have ever said about photos before I started the process with Siobhan! I felt that I was able to be myself and this included some spontaneity when we were outside, where I was able to play in the mud and puddle jump. Siobhan made the experience so relaxed and this really helped to ensure that the photos also projected this image and feeling. I have to say that I was really impressed with the value of the service that Siobhan offers and I wish I had done this sooner! Having seen the images and the time and thought put in to this, I feel that this was very good value for money.”

Worried about booking a branding shoot?

Pippa was just setting up her practice and faced with lots of start up costs. I always do my best to offer bespoke packages for small businesses.

Pippa told me “I was also concerned about affordability. As a small business starting out I was trying to keep costs as low as possible, but after a number of unsuccessful selfie attempts knew that I needed to get some help!

“My biggest concern about booking the shoot was ensuring that the person taking the photos would be able to capture what I wanted. I did not want my photos to come across too clinical, or uncomfortable (“forced smiles”), and it was really important that they captured the essence of who I am. Essentially, I wanted the pictures to show me so that the person booking felt that the photo matched with the person they met, from my appearance down to my characteristics and approach.”

The overall experience and the final images

Following her personal branding shoot, Pippa had these lovely words to say about the whole experience.

“I was so happy with the end results! The pictures look like me and, I believe, accurately convey the open, warm, non-judgemental, and empathetic approach that I have. I feel that if I were looking for some support of this type, I would approach me! The only challenge I had was choosing which images were my preferred ones as Siobhan had managed to capture a lot of great shots!”
