Personal Branding Photos for a Colour Stylist
Having done a range of personal branding shoots for different industries, I thought it would be helpful to share a few case studies. These will tell you a bit more about my process. This post features some personal branding photos for a colour stylist. This is an example of the sort of images you might expect if you book a personal branding shoot with me.
Wendy is a colour stylist working with House of Colour. Large franchise companies often provide lots of images for their teams to use, but it’s still important to have your own images. Every stylist has a different approach and a different level of customer service. Images need to show your personality, your approach and the individual services you provide.
Pre-shoot Planning and Mood Board
The shoot process always starts with us discussing your brand values. Then we talk about how you help your clients and the feeling you want your images to convey. Together we create an inspiration mood board to guide the shoot. This can include ideas about clothing, locations, props etc..

“Siobhan was great at encouraging me to find and share images with her that I liked and that I would like to try to re-create for my shoot. She had also taken the time to do the same and came up with images/poses/settings for me to consider and her suggestions were spot on and worked really well to showcase me, my personality and all of my services!”
Behind the scenes and working with clients
Showcasing the services you offer is all part of the shoot, this could include you working directly with a client or showing a range of products relevant to what you do. As well as colour and style sessions, Wendy provides advice on reading glasses, make up colours and a whole range of accessories to enhance your look.

Feeling nervous about a photoshoot?
Putting ourselves out there on social media can be daunting and people are often nervous about having a photoshoot. However, I aim to make the process fun, so on this occasion we put on a 80s playlist, had a glass of Prosecco and tried lots of different ideas. As you’d expect from a clothing stylist, there were few wardrobe changes so we were able to create a range of looks.
Wendy was nervous beforehand, but gave this lovely feedback:
“I’m not the biggest fan of having my photograph taken and I always find it difficult to relax in front of the camera, but I know that professional images are a big asset for my business. I was also worried that I wouldn’t like the images, having spent a significant amount on them! Siobhan immediately made me feel relaxed and made the whole process fun! I didn’t feel at all rushed and under time pressure and I would go as far as to say I actually enjoyed the experience!! She was meticulous at making sure that we captured all of the images that we had listed and came up with some additional ones as we worked through the shoot.”
The overall experience and the final images
